Family physician, Dr. Jude Obomighie has been recruited to West Northumberland

WEST NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Monday July 17, 2017 – The members of the Community Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee (CPRRC) wish to announce that Dr. Jude Obomighie will begin practicing in West Northumberland on August 1st.

Dr. Obomighie has been a doctor for almost 15 years. He completed his 5-year postgraduate training in general practice/family medicine in southwest England, UK, achieving membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners. He has also attained the Licentiate Certification of the Medical Council of Canada, as well as the Canadian specialist qualification in family medicine, with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

As a family physician, his main interest is a holistic approach to the care of his patients and their families, however, he also has further postgraduate qualifications, experience and interests in dermatology, elderly care, women’s health/contraception, and therapeutics, therefore broadening his scope of practice.

Dr. Obomighie stated that, “I am delighted with the opportunity to start my practice in the West Northumberland County. The reception I have received from everyone I have met in the community has been exceptional. My aim is to meet the health needs of the community by providing high quality medical care in a respectful manner while working in partnership with my patients.”

Dr. Obomighie has a beautiful wife and 2 young adorable children. Dr. Obomighie stated that, “outside of work, I enjoy watching football (soccer), as I am a keen Arsenal Football club fan! I also try to keep fit by attending the gym at least 3 times weekly.”
The CPRRC is very pleased to welcome Dr. Obomighie and his family to our community.  “His recruitment is another example of the successful recruitment efforts by the CPRRC as they strive to recruit new family physicians in order to keep pace with the future needs of our residents,” said Gerald Blackstock, CPRRC Co- Chair.

Dr. Obomighie will be opening a clinic starting August 1, 2017, within the Port Hope Health Centre located on Henderson Street in Port Hope.  Dr. Obomighie will be accepting new patients and supporting the residents of West Northumberland in accessing primary health care.

If you are a West Northumberland resident without a family doctor and are currently registered on Health Care Connect (HCC) then please note that Dr. Obomighie will be working with HCC and that you may be contacted through HCC to meet with Dr. Obomighie.   If you have been advised by HCC to contact his office, please call the office at 905 885 8686 or register on the website, with details as below after July 24th and specify that you have been referred by Health Care Connect.

If you are not registered on Health Care Connect and you do not have a family physician within West Northumberland then please contact Dr. Obomighie’s office after September 7, 2017.
